Daan De Meyer 4ea4abb651 core: Remove circular dependencies between headers
Currently there are various circular dependencies between headers
in core/. Let's get rid of these by making judicious use of forward
declarations and moving includes into implementation files instead of
having them in header files.

Getting rid of circular header includes simplifies the code and makes
various clang based tooling such as iwyu work much better on our code.

The most important change is getting rid of the manager.h include in
unit.h which is possible thanks to the previous commits. We also move
the OOMPolicy and StatusType enums to unit.h to remove the need for
other unit headers to include manager.h to get access to these enums.

Luca Boccassi 0e551b04ef core: do not imply PrivateTmp with DynamicUser, create a private tmpfs instead
DynamicUser= enables PrivateTmp= implicitly to avoid files owned by reusable uids
leaking into the host. Change it to instead create a fully private tmpfs instance
instead, which also ensures the same result, since it has less impactful semantics
with respect to PrivateTmp=yes, which links the mount namespace to the host's /tmp
instead. If a user specifies PrivateTmp manually, let the existing behaviour
unchanged to ensure backward compatibility is not broken.

Lennart Poettering 7b36fb9f96 polkit: simplify bus_verify_polkit_async() + drop auth-by-cap dbus feature
This simplifies bus_verify_polkit_async() and related calls quite a bit:

1. This removes any support for authentication-by-Linux-capability. This
   is ultimately a kdbus leftover: with classic AF_UNIX transports we
   cannot authenticate by capabilities securely (because we cannot
   acquire it from the peer without races), hence we never actually did.
   Since the necessary kernel work didn't materialize in the last 10y,
   and is unlikely to be added, let's just kill this context. We cannot
   quite remove the caps stuff from sd-bus for API compat, but for our
   polkit logic let's kill it.

2. The "good_uid" and "interactive" params are only necessary in very
   few cases, hence let's move them to a new call
   bus_verify_polkit_async_full() and make bus_verify_polkit_async() a
   wrapper around it without those two parameters.

This also fixes a bunch of wrong uses of the "interactive" bool. The
bool makes no sense today as the ALLOW_INTERACTIVE_AUTHORIZATION field
in the D-Bus message header replaces it fully. We only need it to
implement method calls we introduced prior to that header field becoming
available in D-Bus. And it should only be used on such old method calls,
and otherwise always be set to false.

This does not change behaviour in any way. Just simplifies stuff.

Lennart Poettering cf1ab844a9 tree-wide: drop "static inline" use in .c files
"static inline" makes sense in .h files. But in .c files it's useless
decoration, the compiler should just make its own decisions there, and
it can do that.

hence, replace all remaining uses of "static line" by a simple" static"
in all .c files (but keep them in .h files, where they make sense)

Frantisek Sumsal b86ed7f710 dbus-util: let's take it down a notch when converting file mode to string
I'm definitely a fan of precision, but in this case it's a bit too much:

    $ systemd-run --unit=test --socket-property=ListenFIFO=/tmp/foo --socket-property=SocketMode=0644 true
    $ systemctl cat test.socket
    # /run/systemd/transient/test.socket
    # This is a transient unit file, created programmatically via the systemd API. Do not edit.
    [Unit]
    Description=/usr/bin/true

    [Socket]
    ListenFIFO=/tmp/foo
    SocketMode=0000000000000000000000000000000000000644

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 64903d18df basic/list: drop LIST_IS_EMPTY
This was a trivial wrapper that didn't provide any added value. With more
complicated structures like strvs, hashmaps, sets, and arrays, it is possible
to have an empty container. But in case of a list, the list is empty only when
the head is missing.

Also, we generally want the positive condition, so we replace many
if (!LIST_IS_EMPTY(x)) with just if (x).

Lennart Poettering 2f82562bad alloc-util: add strdupa_safe() + strndupa_safe() and use it everywhere
Let's define two helpers strdupa_safe() + strndupa_safe() which do the
same as their non-safe counterparts, except that they abort if called
with allocations larger than ALLOCA_MAX.

This should ensure that all our alloca() based allocations are subject
to this limit.

afaics glibc offers three alloca() based APIs: alloca() itself,
strndupa() + strdupa(). With this we have now replacements for all of
them, that take the limit into account.

Luca Boccassi 5e8deb94c6 core: add DBUS method to bind mount new nodes without service restart
Allow to setup new bind mounts for a service at runtime (via either
DBUS or a new 'systemctl bind' verb) with a new helper that forks into
the unit's mount namespace.
Add a new integration test to cover this.

Useful for zero-downtime addition to services that are running inside
mount namespaces, especially when using RootImage/RootDirectory.

If a service runs with a read-only root, a tmpfs is added on /run
to ensure we can create the airlock directory for incoming mounts
under /run/host/incoming.

Lennart Poettering 7a8867abfa user-util: rework how we validate user names
This reworks the user validation infrastructure. There are now two
modes. In regular mode we are strict and test against a strict set of
valid chars. And in "relaxed" mode we just filter out some really
obvious, dangerous stuff. i.e. strict is whitelisting what is OK, but
"relaxed" is blacklisting what is really not OK.

The idea is that we use strict mode whenver we allocate a new user
(i.e. in sysusers.d or homed), while "relaxed" mode is when we process
users registered elsewhere, (i.e. userdb, logind, …)

The requirements on user name validity vary wildly. SSSD thinks its fine
to embedd "@" for example, while the suggested NAME_REGEX field on
Debian does not even allow uppercase chars…

This effectively liberaralizes a lot what we expect from usernames.

The code that warns about questionnable user names is now optional and
only used at places such as unit file parsing, so that it doesn't show
up on every userdb query, but only when processing configuration files
that know better.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek ae480f0b09 shared/user-util: allow usernames with dots in specific fields
People do have usernames with dots, and it makes them very unhappy that systemd
doesn't like their that. It seems that there is no actual problem with allowing
dots in the username. In particular chown declares ":" as the official
separator, and internally in systemd we never rely on "." as the seperator
between user and group (nor do we call chown directly). Using dots in the name
is probably not a very good idea, but we don't need to care. Debian tools
(adduser) do not allow users with dots to be created.

This patch allows *existing* names with dots to be used in User, Group,
SupplementaryGroups, SocketUser, SocketGroup fields, both in unit files and on
the command line. DynamicUsers and sysusers still follow the strict policy.
user@.service and tmpfiles already allowed arbitrary user names, and this
remains unchanged.

Fixes #12754.

Lennart Poettering 0c69794138 tree-wide: remove Lennart's copyright lines
These lines are generally out-of-date, incomplete and unnecessary. With
SPDX and git repository much more accurate and fine grained information
about licensing and authorship is available, hence let's drop the
per-file copyright notice. Of course, removing copyright lines of others
is problematic, hence this commit only removes my own lines and leaves
all others untouched. It might be nicer if sooner or later those could
go away too, making git the only and accurate source of authorship
information.

Lennart Poettering 818bf54632 tree-wide: drop 'This file is part of systemd' blurb
This part of the copyright blurb stems from the GPL use recommendations:

https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.en.html

The concept appears to originate in times where version control was per
file, instead of per tree, and was a way to glue the files together.
Ultimately, we nowadays don't live in that world anymore, and this
information is entirely useless anyway, as people are very welcome to
copy these files into any projects they like, and they shouldn't have to
change bits that are part of our copyright header for that.

hence, let's just get rid of this old cruft, and shorten our codebase a
bit.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 11a1589223 tree-wide: drop license boilerplate
Files which are installed as-is (any .service and other unit files, .conf
files, .policy files, etc), are left as is. My assumption is that SPDX
identifiers are not yet that well known, so it's better to retain the
extended header to avoid any doubt.

I also kept any copyright lines. We can probably remove them, but it'd nice to
obtain explicit acks from all involved authors before doing that.
