Daan De Meyer 67c92f3fec kmod-setup: Load virtiofs and virtio_pci early
There's no way for us to wait for specific virtiofs tags to appear,
so we have to try and make sure that the tags are all available by
the time we try to mount any virtiofs tag. Let's try to do that by
loading the necessary modules as early as we can.

Daan De Meyer a93aaede29 kmod-setup: Add early loading for virtio_console
getty-generator enables serial-getty@.service for virtualizer consoles
that it can find in /sys/class/tty. To make sure this works for
virtio consoles, let's make sure we load the module is loaded early
so that the /sys/class/tty/hvc0 exists before we run getty-generator.

Lennart Poettering 5c1d67af46 pid1: load 'qemu_fw_cfg' kmod super early, so that we can import credentials from it
In one of the next commits we want to add support for importing system
credentials from qemu_fw_cfg, very early during boot. (So that we can
use the credentials therein for generators and even earlier). But that
means udev won#t load these modules for us, we have to load them
manually first.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 81d7c69657 core: use the generic module_load() function
This allows aliases to be used for the basic modules we load from pid1 before
udev is started. In #9501 the kernel renamed autofs4 to autofs, with "autofs4"
as alias, but we wouldn't load the module, because we didn't follow aliases.
The kernel change was reverted, but it's probably better to support aliases.

Lennart Poettering 0c69794138 tree-wide: remove Lennart's copyright lines
These lines are generally out-of-date, incomplete and unnecessary. With
SPDX and git repository much more accurate and fine grained information
about licensing and authorship is available, hence let's drop the
per-file copyright notice. Of course, removing copyright lines of others
is problematic, hence this commit only removes my own lines and leaves
all others untouched. It might be nicer if sooner or later those could
go away too, making git the only and accurate source of authorship
information.

Lennart Poettering 818bf54632 tree-wide: drop 'This file is part of systemd' blurb
This part of the copyright blurb stems from the GPL use recommendations:

https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.en.html

The concept appears to originate in times where version control was per
file, instead of per tree, and was a way to glue the files together.
Ultimately, we nowadays don't live in that world anymore, and this
information is entirely useless anyway, as people are very welcome to
copy these files into any projects they like, and they shouldn't have to
change bits that are part of our copyright header for that.

hence, let's just get rid of this old cruft, and shorten our codebase a
bit.

Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 11a1589223 tree-wide: drop license boilerplate
Files which are installed as-is (any .service and other unit files, .conf
files, .policy files, etc), are left as is. My assumption is that SPDX
identifiers are not yet that well known, so it's better to retain the
extended header to avoid any doubt.

I also kept any copyright lines. We can probably remove them, but it'd nice to
obtain explicit acks from all involved authors before doing that.

David Herrmann e04658277d Revert "kmod-setup: don't print warning on -ENOSYS"
This partially reverts commit 78d298bbc5.

reverted.

kmod was fixed upstream to no longer return ENOSYS. Also see:

The kmod fix is marked for backport, so no reason to bump the kmod
version we depend on.

Kay Sievers 1b09f548c7 turn kdbus support into a runtime option
./configure --enable/disable-kdbus can be used to set the default
behavior regarding kdbus.

If no kdbus kernel support is available, dbus-dameon will be used.

be used to disable kdbus.

With --disable-kdbus, the kernel command line option "kdbus=1" is
required to enable kdbus support.

Daniel Mack 78d298bbc5 kmod-setup: don't print warning on -ENOSYS
-ENOSYS is returned from kmod_module_probe_insert_module() if a module isn't
available, not -ENOENT. Don't spit out a warning in that case unless the
warn_if_unavailable flag is set.

Also factor out the condition into an own variable for better readability.

Daniel Mack 85c675538f kmod-setup: split warn flags
Traditionally, we used to warn about ipv6 being a module or being
unavailable. This was changed in b4aa82f16 ("kmod-setup: don't warn
when ipv6 can't be loaded") in a way that neither of the two conditions
will cause a log message.

Now, while running a setup without any IPv6 is completely fine and
shouldn't cause any warning, we should still warn about ipv6 being a
module instead of built-in.

To achieve this, split the boolean warn flag into two: one for a
feature not being built-in but shipped as a module, and one to
print an error when a module is entirely unavailable.

We will, however, still warn if kmod returns anything else than
-ENOENT in the attempt of loading the module, and at the very least,
turn the message into a debug log.

David Herrmann d79acc3093 bus: don't switch to kdbus if not requested
Whenever systemd is re-executed, it tries to create a system bus via
kdbus. If the system did not have kdbus loaded during bootup, but the
module is loaded later on manually, this will cause two system buses
running (kdbus and dbus-daemon in parallel).

This patch makes sure we never try to create kdbus buses if it wasn't
explicitly requested on the command-line.

Lennart Poettering 1d3087978a kmod-setup: load ip_tables kmod at boot
The module is currently no auto-loadable (and this is unlikely to change
anytime soon, given it's API is via getsockopt/setsockopt). It is needed
by networkd and nspawn currently.

Users who really don't like the module to be loaded have the option to
blacklist it still, or not compile it at all. But for all others this
should make things work out-of-the-box.

Lennart Poettering 086891e5c1 log: add an "error" parameter to all low-level logging calls and intrdouce log_error_errno() as log calls that take error numbers
This change has two benefits:

- The format string %m will now resolve to the specified error (or to
errno if the specified error is 0. This allows getting rid of a ton of
strerror() invocations, a function that is not thread-safe.

- The specified error can be passed to the journal in the ERRNO= field.

Now of course, we just need somebody to convert all cases of this:

        log_error("Something happened: %s", strerror(-r));

into thus:

        log_error_errno(-r, "Something happened: %m");

Daniel Mack 63cc4c3138 sd-bus: sync with kdbus upstream (ABI break)
kdbus has seen a larger update than expected lately, most notably with
kdbusfs, a file system to expose the kdbus control files:

 * Each time a file system of this type is mounted, a new kdbus
   domain is created.

 * The layout inside each mount point is the same as before, except
that domains are not hierarchically nested anymore.

 * Domains are therefore also unnamed now.

 * Unmounting a kdbusfs will automatically also detroy the
   associated domain.

 * Hence, the action of creating a kdbus domain is now as
   privileged as mounting a filesystem.

 * This way, we can get around creating dev nodes for everything,
which is last but not least something that is not limited by
   20-bit minor numbers.

The kdbus specific bits in nspawn have all been dropped now, as nspawn
can rely on the container OS to set up its own kdbus domain, simply by
mounting a new instance.

A new set of mounts has been added to mount things *after* the kernel
modules have been loaded. For now, only kdbus is in this set, which is
invoked with mount_setup_late().
