From 9efeb4b1d4152cc3a52f797c3090019a937f322e Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Edvard Jaegtnes Date: Sun, 13 Sep 2026 13:32:33 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] hwdb: add fuzz override for Dell Precision 7510 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad (#43747) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Recently switched to Linux on my Dell Precision 7510 and noticed a jittery/shaking effect when scrolling slowly with the touchpad, across multiple applications. libinput measure fuzz reported no fuzz value set for the touchpad's axes, which explains the jitter (sensor noise being read as real motion). Used libinput measure fuzz --fuzz=28 to generate and apply a hwdb override, then confirmed scrolling was smooth afterward. Added a new entry to hwdb/60-evdev.hwdb for this device: evdev:name:AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad:dmi:*:svnDellInc.*:pnPrecision7510*: This is the same touchpad family as #34133 (Dell Latitude E7440), which hit the same symptom and fix — this PR extends the coverage to the Precision 7510. --- hwdb.d/60-evdev.hwdb | 7 +++++++ 1 file changed, 7 insertions(+) diff --git a/hwdb.d/60-evdev.hwdb b/hwdb.d/60-evdev.hwdb index c99da7d359..4beffb4ef7 100644 --- a/hwdb.d/60-evdev.hwdb +++ b/hwdb.d/60-evdev.hwdb @@ -364,6 +364,13 @@ evdev:name:SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad:dmi:bvn*:bvr*:bd*:svnDellInc.:pnPrecision5 EVDEV_ABS_35=::42 EVDEV_ABS_36=::43 +#Dell Precision 7510 +evdev:name:AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad:dmi:*:svnDellInc.*:pnPrecision7510*: + EVDEV_ABS_00=:::28 + EVDEV_ABS_01=:::28 + EVDEV_ABS_35=:::28 + EVDEV_ABS_36=:::28 + # Dell Precision M4700 evdev:name:AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad:dmi:*svnDellInc.:pnPrecisionM4700:* EVDEV_ABS_00=0:1960:24
